Many of these photos were taken on a two-week driving trip through Yucatán, one of the 31 states of Mexico.
Places visited include fishing villages along the north coast (San Felipe, El Cuyo, Dzilam de Bravo, Telchac, Chicxulub, and Chelem) and Rio Lagartos, a 150,000-acre special biosphere reserve and home to the largest American flamingo population in México.
Photos of Mayan ruins are from Dzibilchaltun, Ek Balam, Uxmal, and Chichen, Itza. Colonial towns include Valladolid, Izamal, and Tizimin.
